Gareth Bale has shown a lack of commitment and careless attitude’ at Real Madrid, claims Ramon Calderon on talkSPORT
Ramon Calderon has defended Real Madrid fans over their criticism of Gareth Bale, saying he has not lived up to expectations since his 85million arrival from Tottenham.Bale was booed off at the Bernabeu by his own supporters on Saturday when he was substituted in the 1-0 defeat to bitter rivals Barcelona. It sparked an angry reaction from agent, Jonathan Barnett, who slammed the scenes as disgraceful.Bale was jeered off the pitch by Real Madrid fans on Saturday2
Bale was jeered off the pitch by Real Madrid fans on Saturday
In an extraordinary interview with talkSPORT on Tuesday, Barnett branded Real Madrid fans disgusting and very fickle over their treatment of Bale and their behaviour towards host of their iconic stars in the past. But former Los Blancos president Calderon hit back at the agent, insisting Real fans are very respectful and criticism of Bale is valid.Speaking to Hawksbee and Jacobs, he said: They were very inappropriate comments from my point of view.Real Madrid fans are very respectful with their own players and also with rivals, but they are also very demanding and inflexible with some things, like a lack of commitment.I heard his agent say Gareth Bale loves Real Madrid, and I dont doubt it, but he must show it.He has been doing some things that people dont like. We saw how he shrugged off his team-mates after scoring a goal when they went to embrace him and celebrate, he has left the stadium in a few matches before they have finished and hes been here for six years and still doesnt speak the language. So a few things have been perceived by the fans as an indifference or careless attitude towards the club.He doesnt speak a single word of our language after six years, thats clearly a lack of commitment from my point of view, and from the point of view of the fans.Im sure that hes trying to do things in the right way but its also clear that, with the injuries and for other reasons, he hasnt delivered with the expectation when he came here. He hasnt been that leader Real Madrid and the fans were expecting. The substitutes bench has become an all too familiar sight for Bale this season2

Fans are very demanding with any player they were the same with Alfredo Di Stefano, the greatest of all time at Real Madrid, and with Zidane, they were booing him for months after he came to Real Madrid because his performances were not the right ones.So he [Barnett] must not complain about that, he has perhaps to push Gareth to behave in another way.
